Army World Taekwondo Development, Grading and Coaching Course 4-8 Nov 24
Army World Taekwondo delivered a 5-day training package to improve Taekwondo, to conduct national governing body gradings and for senior coaches to complete the British Taekwondo (BT) L2 Coaching Course. The course was attended by 30 practitioners who benefitted from martial arts activities including full contact Olympic sparring, self-defence and traditional set patterns. There was plenty of sweat, smiles and strikes on display with all practitioners enjoying the progressive and challenging sessions.
The highlights of the week included 11 practitioners completed their BT gradings, notably one promotion to second degree black belt and also that seven coaches completed the nine-month BT coaching course. The coaches were put through their paces by delivering sessions to both military and civilian martial artists as well as completing academic work and portfolio submissions. This qualification will now be a force generator for Army Taekwondo, as the coaches are qualified to run satellite clubs at their military units.
Dan, Kup and Indomitable Spirit Player of the Year Awards were also awarded to Sgt Guba (RA), Sgt Hall (REME) and Cpl Ghimire (1RGR) for their outstanding achievements both on and off the mats and for their enduring commitment to Army Taekwondo.
